How long have you been skating?
What is your favorite derby moment?
So many. Too many. The one off the top of my head right now is playing in the Fresh and Furious fresh meat tournament in Toronto back in 2011 with the Border City Brawlers. We were all new and this was our first travel game and our first tournament. It was amazing. It was baptism by fire and by the end of it we were bruised and beaten but our spirits were so high. We went on to the final 4, which no one expected us to do. We were ultimately crushed by Montreal and in all honesty it was an honour to be smashed by them.
What is your pre-bout routine? Any rituals?
Hydrate, eat everything I see and break out the glitter.
What does your derby name mean?
I’m a Star Trek nerd and the original Wrath of Khan movie is by far the best ST film with the best ST villain ever. Ever. If you ask me I’ll tell you why I feel Benedict Cumberbatch was a horrible Khan.
How important is derby in your life?
I don’t really remember what I did before derby.
What advice would you give to someone looking to begin their roller derby career?
You can do this. You CAN do this. We were all where you are right now and look at us now!
Anything else we should know about you?
I’m married and have a wonderful step-daughter. I’m also Canadian! I moved to Ohio only a year ago and yes, I really do say ‘eh’. I adopt retired racing greyhounds. I’m an engineer. I love glitter.
