How long have you been skating?
This is my seventh season playing roller derby, but I have been skating recreationally for as long as I can remember.
What is your favorite derby moment?
The first time I won MVP jammer. It was a home team game, Knockers vs. Rolling Pin-ups.
What is your pre-bout routine? Any rituals?
I wash my gear and paint my nails the night before, and spend a lot of time on my eye makeup on bout day to calm my nerves.
What does your derby name mean?
It’s my last name, Premo, combined with Donna, to make a play on the term “prima donna”.
How important is derby in your life?
It has slowly become a part of who I am. I have a very fulfilling life outside of derby, but it almost always comes up in daily conversations.
What advice would you give to someone looking to begin their roller derby career?
Do it! Don’t doubt yourself. Everything in derby is learned over time. Nobody expects you to know how to play on day one.
Anything else we should know about you?
I’m a surgical veterinary technician. My pets are Rosco (my dog), Zazzles (my cat), Gypsy (my horse), Caesar (my dove), and Eve (my snake). My husband’s name is Jason. I have a huge family and they are all so supportive of derby.
