The Burning River Roller Girls are proud to present Black & Blue 8, the league’s annual charity roller derby bout, which will take place Saturday, Dec. 7.
Black & Blue is a yearly tradition that the athletes of the Burning River Roller Girls cherish. Over the years through this event, we have donated to wonderful organizations such as the Cleveland Animal Protective League, Beech Brook, and Toys for Tots.
This year the league is proud to announce the Cleveland Courage Fund as our chosen charity. This organization, which directly supports the three women held captive for a decade in a Cleveland home, is near and dear to the hearts of the skaters on this league.
The fund, named for the fortitude shown by these women, will directly benefit Michelle Knight, Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry, and Amanda’s daughter.
A portion from every ticket sold, as well as funds raised through our annual captain’s auction, will go straight to the Cleveland Courage Fund .
All of the teams of the Burning River Roller Girls will regroup into Team Black and Team Blue for one of the most exciting roller derby events of the year.
But the highlight of night will be the halftime show, in which the new recruits of the Burning River Roller Girls will engage in a battle of full-contact musical chairs—on skates! This unbelievable, out-of-control event keeps fans talking all year long and acts as a rite of passage to the newest members of the league.
