Updating a previous post with two bits of information:

Recruitment Event:(ONLY for women interested in joining the Burning River Roller Girls)

Wondering what you would be getting into if you joined the Burning River Roller Girls? Come watch a practice and see what out league skaters do at practice! THIS IS ONLY TO WATCH, so no gear required. We cannot allow you to skate with us, sadly, as league practice is only available to league members that skate under our league insurance.

The Recruiting Director, Soul Eater, will be there to answer any questions about practice or joining BRRG.

Afterwards we will head to Paradise Bar and Restaurant for lunch and drinks.

For more details about joining the Burning River Roller Girls, please email recruiting@burningriverrollergirls.com

Good news future roller girls!!!!

It has been confirmed that we will in fact be having an advanced tryout this winter!! The exact dates and details have not been nailed down, but here is an idea about what is on the plate:

November  28: Bootcamp
For the advanced bootcamps you will be included into actual BRRG practices!!! Please don’t let this scare you, as we will not allow anyone to participate in drills in which we don’t think they are ready for.  However this means that bootcamps are geared towards those that feel they can competently do most of the skills on a checklist provided by our recruitment director. You don’t have to be a rockstar at them, but you should be able to do them to some degree.

December-January: Advanced Tryouts
In either December or January we will have the advanced tryout, which will include the entirety of the skills on the above mentioned checklist, as well as any additional skills that our Derby Ops VP and Athletic Director feel are appropriate to ensure that you can skate safely with the BRRG while we are ramping up for the 2013 season.

How to Prepare?
Our recruitment director has put together a 9-week training program that will help skaters prepare for the upcoming tryout. Some of you are already doing it, but if you aren’t yet, start now!

Thinking About Trying Out?
Even if you have the slightest inkling that you want to tryout this winter, please email recruiting@burningriverrollergirls.com! We want to get a feel for how many skaters to anticipate at these bootcamps and tryouts so we can plan accordingly (amount of coaches to schedule, etc.).  You will also be provided with the skills checklist and 9-week training program.

That is all the information that we have at this time. As we sort out specific dates and other requirements, this email list will be the first to hear anything. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  Hope to see you soon!
